Chill-Out Night + EGM (Extraordinary General Meeting)
Wednesday 12 August at Red Mansion, Boat Quay 7pm.

We are really hoping for a big turnout – there are some changes we need to make to our constitution (mainly administrative) which will help with the better functioning of our Association.
We really need a quorum of 30 members, so please come along and see other graduates and friends… and enjoy the refreshments. We believe the EGM will be short.
At this event, included for members are:
Good food
AND
One drink voucher per member (for wine or beer)
AND
1:1 happy hour (7pm-9pm) on wine (good quality house wine) and beer (five labels of beer – draft and bottled), 50% off other drinks by the glass
AND
Live entertainment from 9pm
AND
No entrance fee.
If you are a UNSW graduate but are not sure if you are a member of the Singapore Chapter, please sign up beforehand (by sending your particulars to Kevin Lim, Communications officer kevin.lim@unswalumni.com, including your UNSW programme) or come along to the AGM and sign up. Membership is free!

DESIGN AS CULTURAL ARTEFACT
2 –12 Dec 2007 | 9am–9pm daily | Level 8, National Library, 100 Victoria Street | Free admission
The consumption of design is an interesting phenomenon to behold. Consumers today are increasingly well-informed about design, and discriminating in their purchases, and there is greater recognition of the link between the designer and the designed. Then there’s the broad range of choices – cultural and geographical borders have become blurred as consumers select and gather objects and experiences from around the world, conveniently available without leaving home.
This exhibition addresses the position of design as cultural artefact by examining the work of a select group of acclaimed Singaporean designers who have ventured into a broad range of design domains: object design, graphic design, illustration, interactive design, jewellery design and interior-exterior design. All have completed or are about to complete the Master of Design degree from College of Fine Arts (COFA), UNSW in Sydney, and their design outcomes are very much grounded in the culture in which they operate.
Exhibiting designers: Soh Choi Yin, James Lee, Pat Lim, John Soo Keng Fatt, Josephine Tan-Eber, Wui Kong, Herman Yap, Nathan Yong, Zhang Wen Yi
Design as a Cultural Artefact is curated by Dr Vaughan Rees and designed by Singapore Creatives LAH; presented by Australian High Commission and COFA; and supported by Australian Education International Singapore.

Looking forward to see you there.
Yours sincerely,
